It’s National Family Caregivers Month. As I’m a caregiver, I jumped at the chance to bring you this important public service information from AARP and the Ad Council about some of the resources available to the more than 42 million caregivers in the U.S. If you’re like most people, your mental image of a caregiver is of middle-aged women taking care of elderly parents. For me, only half of that is true. I’m middle-aged (or early Renaissance; medieval if you’re one of my boys). But I’m not caring for my parents; I’m now caring for someone who is only 57 and had a stroke in late September.
Everyone has great ideas for avoiding weight gain during the holidays. Our ideas actually work. How do we know that? Well, I have been in the fitness industry for over 30 years, I know (and write professionally) about healthy eating, and I have a Master’s in systemic counseling. More importantly, we use these tips ourselves.

We were invited by Attune Foods to write about our #FitClean role models. We decided to take them up on it and share who inspired us to live active lives. Both of us stuck close to home for our inspiration choices, while talking about how we then traveled the world with fitness!
It’s Thanksgiving, which means the start of the “Eat Too Much; Move Too Little” season. But it doesn’t have to be that way. We share seven tips to help you avoid turning Thanksgiving into Thanks-gorging!
How far from home do you have to travel be changed or transformed to a somewhat (or possibly completely) different person? And can travel really change how you think, observe and respond to the world? I say it can and does. In 1973, my mom took 4 of her 5 kids (all teens) backpacking through Europe. Before we left California, she explained that we were ambassadors from our culture/ country, and shared 11 tips that would affect how we view the world.
What does Father’s Day have in common with exercise? Is there a link between movement and how positively your view your life and relationships? For Boomers, this day can be especially poignant, as we either remember our fathers or contemplate their remaining years.
Want a fun activity that is sort of a 5K, but without the actual need to race? The Drenched 5K summer fun run is coming. You don’t even have to run! Our kind of Boomer fun. Family-friendly. A water fight. And a summer party. A fun run. Or walk. Or mosey.
